Social bookmarking is a method for Internet users to share, organize, search, and manage bookmarks for websites in which they have interest. The list of bookmarks can be shared with colleagues and students. Descriptions may be added to these bookmarks, so that friends have an idea of the content before navigating to the site.

Several interesting bookmarking sites are:

Delicious A tool for reserving and sharing bookmarked sites with friends and colleagues.
Diigo A research, sharing and collaborating tool
Digg A place where you find websites, share them with friends and discuss them online.

Setting up a Delicious Account
It is necessary for you to join Delicious in order to use the bookmarking application. Before registering as a member of Delicious, you need to sign up for a yahoo account. It is free and easy to sign up for. Once you have the yahoo account ID, you can register to become a member of Delicious.
  • Adding bookmarks to your Delicious account has been made quick and easy. Delicious has instructions that add buttons to your browser.
  • Once installed (you may need to contact your school tech person to do this), the buttons are displayed to the left of the URL window for the website.
For Firefox or Internet Explorer:
If you missed the set up for the browser as I did, you can click help in the upper right of the Delicious window and select the link “How do I install the bookmarking buttons into my browser again?
For Safari or other browsers:
If you are using Safari or Opera, you will need to install bookmarklets in a different way. Using the help link in the upper right corner of the Delicious window, select the link “Bookmarking buttons and add-ons for your browser or website?

Once you have an account, you can look me up to see my bookmarks. My Delicious account name is "PRDUCKS". Send me an email with your account name so we can become Fans and share our resources.
