Connecting to the Flip camera.

Most cameras today will easily connect to iMovie so that you can quickly download your video clips. However, some cameras do not support the format used by iMovie. See the link below if your videos do not easily import into iMovie.

For Flip MinoHD and UltraHD:

1. Open the USB connector at the side of the camera.
2. Plug into the USB port of the computer.
3. When the Flip is connected it will make a beep sound to indicate that it is connected and on.

Possible scenarios:

· iMovie is open. The software will automatically recognize the camera and display a window with posters of each of the videos on the camera. You can download all of them, or select manual at the lower left of the window and uncheck all clips. Then, select the clips you wish to download When your clips are selected, click the download selected button.

· Desktop is displayed with no software open, install Flip software: Double click the Flip device to open its software. If you want to download Flip software, double click on the install icon and Flip software will be installed. This is not necessary for this workshop.

· Desktop is displayed with no software open, import into iMovie: If you want to download your videos directly into iMovie only, open iMovie. Upon opening iMovie , the software will detect the connected camera and display a window with posters of each of the videos on the camera.

4. Once the video clips are imported into your iMovie Library, you can eject the Flip camera safely. To do this, return to the desktop and drag the Flip camera icon to the trash. Then, you may safely remove the camera from the USB port.
